  • Thumbnails in Sequence… Can they be changed?

I understand that the thumbnail display for each clip used in the timeline is chosen depending on the “in” mark, in the original clip. Is there a way to change that thumbnail pic based on another mark of some sort? I want the clip to start in the same place, I just want the thumbnail to be different. Thanks in advance for any and all help on this topic.

Sure, hit hh, or go to your toolbar and select the scrub tool which looks like a hand with two arrows in it. it is located below the blade tool and in the same tool set as the magnifying glass. Then hover over the thumbnail icon in the timeline (also works in the browser) and scrub left or right. You should see the thumbnail updating.

Great shortcut to the scrub tool. Thanks for the help, I’m getting closer! After following your instructions, it works great, until I let go of the mouse button, and the image snaps back to the “in” point. It seemed a little buggy though, because when I tried it on every cut, some of the thumbnails changed, but not to the desired frame. Any suggestions?

Do what Jeremy suggested, just hold down the Control key; when you’re where you want to be, release the mouse before releasing the Control key. That should do it. Hope that helps.
