Presently working on a High Def project that spans 4 monitors (7680*1080). After hitting the render button in AE 6.5 with codec set to H.264, I get this error message: “compressing frame of movie out of memory (-108) (44-39)”. If I render the movie in the Animation codec it works fine. Why is this and what is the work around? Is it simply a question of more memory or is it a constraint of the H.264 codec?

    thanks

irritating isn’t it? i’m not sure where the problem lies (i don’t think it’s actually a memory thing) but i’ve never been able to render h.264 from afx in 6.5 or 7.0., it can also be problematic using h.264 as source footage. i gave up and always use qtime pro to convert from afx animation renders to the h.264 codec. i don’t use it myself but compressor would probably do the trick also. someone else probably has a good tech explanation for the problem.
