March 25, 2006 at 9:12 pmI doubt you’ll find a used one, since they just came out.
No one knows when new towers will come out. But you can be sure that the price will drop as soon as something new on the Intel side comes out.
Do you need to edit today? Just buy the Quad.
If you can wait, you should wait until at least after NAB in a few weeks.Kevin Monahan

Yep, I’ve got two G5’s and my G4 Powerbook, all refurbs.
Click on the Store tab at the Apple site. Scroll down and look for the red “Save” tag in the right column. Click that and that takes you to the refurb section. You have to check it several times a day as machines go up and down all day long. Especially something like a Quad would not stay up there long.
As Kevin notes, August will most likely be the first anyone will see of the Intels but no guess as to when they would actually ship. Though I’m curious to see if there are Intels at NAB next month.

Yay! As we all know, that’s usually a good sign when Apple starts letting the supplies of current machines run low. Usually it means there are new machines waiting in the wings for their debut. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the Intel desktops will not only be debuted at WWDC in August, but they might even be available for immediate purchase.

March 26, 2006 at 5:36 pmThe Apple Refurb store (US) seem to have at least one Quad. $2,799.00
And most cinema display are about 1000$ cheaper. What a deal… -

March 26, 2006 at 7:10 pmApple backs its refurbs with the same warranty & tech support as its new products. My own experience in retail is that many (though certainly not all) refurbs are demo units that may have been dragged around to a few trade shows or similar venues. These are cleaned up & repaired for whatever wear & tear they suffered on the road, & then offered at discount.

March 27, 2006 at 7:08 pmif you have an apple store near you, they often have open box deals with the same one year warranty.
I had the opportunit to buy one at the Cincinatti Apple Store a few weeka go. I decided I would wait a while
longer and see what is coming down the road.
