35 mm, 3 perf edited @ 24 fps
Is there anybody out there that can give some input on this problem. I am going to edit a shortfilm which is shot om 35 mm, 3 perf @ 24 fps on finalcut in a Pal setup. The film will be scanned to 2K from which the final print will be made on 35 mm for theater release.
The main problem is that Cinema Tools doesn’t support 35 mm, 3 perf.I was thinking of a workaround that would be like this:
shoot at 24 fps – telecine 1:1, 24 to 25 without pulldown so 1 frame 35 corresponts to 1 videoframe.
Load the 25 fps pal scan to finalcut and confirm timecode from 25 to 24 fps. Is this possible?
Edit the film on finalcut in 24p. Conform the 2K scan to an edl list generated in final cut. This way I can edit @ 24 fps, generate a master for audiomix and have a 24 fps print for theatre release.
This resembles a bit the way the Avid filmcomposer works. I have never tried this on final cut and I am interested to hear if there is anybody outthere that knows something on the subject.
