Is anyone using Color Finesse reguarly? I tried it a year ago and had a lot of problems with corrections not sticking to clips. If memory serves this was in FCP 4.1 under 10.3.4.

March 19, 2006 at 4:57 pmYou might want to consider silicon color’s Final Touch SD. It is a very powerful program that was developed closely with Apple.
It works in RT with your graphics card as well and has excellent XML support between programs.

March 19, 2006 at 6:35 pmSounds like I will need to check it out. I’ve been getting more and more grading jobs lately. The reason I’d like to use CF is that I do a lot of grading in FCP on a freelance basis (not my own gear) and the computers vary. Would be nice to make the companies buy something that I’ll be familiar with at all places.

March 19, 2006 at 7:44 pmFinal Touch is dedicated grading software, but I would recomend setting up a system because it is hardware dependent (video card) but it costs less than AE + CF and it wil be faster in the long run.

March 19, 2006 at 7:48 pmGood point!
Now, how to make people understand the value added with a system like this!

March 19, 2006 at 10:50 pmTry these:
1. Passing QC at major broadcasters
2. Your show looks better.
3. It’s like eating cake without the icing!🙂

March 20, 2006 at 4:07 amI use CF all the time, GREAT color correction plugin for FCP
there was some problems but since 4.5 and the last few CF updates it ROCKSI would try out the demo from SA again
Hey Dave re you comment
Final Touch is dedicated grading software, but I would recomend setting up a system because it is hardware dependent (video card) but it costs less than AE + CF and it wil be faster in the long run.you think FT and a dedicated system would be cheaper then CF ? the SD version of the plugin costs $1K alone without the “dedicated system” you recommend. to correct HD clips you need to shell out $5K (CF works with whatever you are using in you TL, HD or SD or whatever)
(BTW you don’t need AE to run CF works fine in FCP)CF ROCKS
(sorry Dave had to stick up for CF, see you at the meeting on Tuesday?)

March 20, 2006 at 4:14 pmDave was referring to buying CF + AE. That’s an investment of (off the top of my head, so please don’t flame me if I’m off by a few hundred $$) $1200- $2200.
I agree, though that $600 for CF as a plugin for FCP is pretty reasonable.
