I am archiving a large (400+GB) FCP project onto SDLT. I am looking for reliable archiving software compatible with OSX ver10.4.5.

I am working on a G5 connected to a Quantum SDLT 320 deck by an Atto Express PCI PRO UL366 card. In my research I have come up with a couple of potential archive programs: The Tolis Group’s BRU LE or the EMC Retrospect.

Has anyone had experience with these programs or are there other programs that you would recommend?

    Thanks

Seems to me that the best solution here is to buy a 400 or 500 gig drive and store the media that way. It’s faster at any rate…

I’m using the same SDLT drive with Retrospect and it’s extremely reliable – I archive everything I do. I’ve used a DLT and Retrospect for about 10 years (used it with my avid and OS 7-9 prior) and have never had an issue with it.

    Hi,

BRU and Retrospect are both very reliable.

I’m not sure if BRU supports incrmental backups (its been a few years since I used BRU). Other than that I think it depends on price and user interface.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch
