  HD Online

  I’m working on a feature film shot on Sony F900 CineAlta HD shot in 1080 24p, tapes were transfered to DVCAM and I completed the offline using FCP5 DVCAM settings. The project has been sent to another house to rebatch at HD rez, they used FCP Media Manager to make new project with HD settings and have rebatched a short segment to discover a problem. There are several places where there is a 1 frame gap in the video, sometimes the 1 frame gap clip is 1 frame out of sync with audio.

  What is the proper workflow for HD online, do we need to use Cinema Tools or does Media Manager do the job. I appreciate any help, step by step process or point me to information or articles.

  There’s a very good explanation of the 24p offline/online process in the Cinema Tools Help (it’s manual actually) take a look at that to get you up and running… Starts on page 179.

  Just a few questions to start. Did you offline you DV project at 23.98 or 29.97? What’s the sequene setting for the HD Online; 23.98 or 29.97. How was your project moved over to the Online; EDL or FCP Project file? Was the offline at drop frame or non-drop. Do like Jerry recomened and read the CT manual. Hopefully the facility that did your online has some answers, it’s their job.
