easy: export and EDL from Avid (like a CMX3600) and “Import EDL” in FCP.

The EDL function does work, although it can be very buggy. Automatic Duck helps DRAMATICALLy and will perserve much more of the original edit than an EDL. Also, keep in ming, that FCP will only translate 1 video layer and 4 audio, so you may have to do multiple EDL exports and then put them back together once they are in. I have experienced a lot of problems when trying to bring in EDLs and it can be very frustrating, especially when there is a client sitting there. Try several export settings from Avid because some of them don’t work at all. Good Luck!
