Total or Ripple Training
I want to buy some training material for some new people starting and wanted to get your opinions of FCP Training DVDs. Brian Maffit is great but I also like the clips that I have seen of Steve Martin of Ripple Training. He’s also the same guy that does the Quick Tour at Apple.com. What would you get for someone new to FCP?

Also take a look at Lynda.com where you can find books, dvds and online tutorials. A friend of mine is working with some of Larry Jordan’s tutorials online and she is very pleased with the material and the process. She’s also done some Photoshop tutorials there. While you don’t get to keep the material like a book or dvd purchase, a subscription gives you access to a plethora of tutorials for many software titles.

I second Lynda.com. Larry Jordan walks you through the training & makes it simple to understand, as well as brings some light humor into it. For $25/month you get that plus everything else related to Apple, graphics, web, video, & yes, even Microsoft. I frequently pop back over to Lynda to jog my memory about something. They break the training into 10 minute segments so it’s easy to look something up & play a video of just the one topic. When you done with the training, cancel the subscription. Simple as that.
I did spring for the yearly membership because I wanted the media files for the tutorials. The media is helpful but not necessary. If you know how to edit, skip the media files & go for the monthly membership. If you training newbies than you may want the files.
