what Prime time shows/ Movies were cut on FCP?
Anybody know
we’re having a debate in here and our Avid editors say that everything is still cut on Avid for primetime

I’m pretty sure that “28 days later” was cut in Final Cut…but I don’t know how much that does for you… 🙂

full frontal was edited on fcp, and i think, altho am not certain, that lost in translation was too (same editor)

Yup, Walter Murch uses it (Cold Mountain, Jarhead) and that’s all you need to know.

while i think its awesome that the much-inator uses it,
im willing to bet he signed a contract to use it, no more different than how lebron james signed a contract with a shoecompany.
i havent notices murch’s editing getting better or worse with the software, the dude knows how to cut a movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey certainly didn’t sign a contract with apple to edit on Final Cut. He chose the software because he thought that was the best solution for the job (Cold Mountain) He wrote a book about the experience.

“Scrubs” on NBC is the most well-known primetime show I believe.
We cut “Good Eats” in High Defintion for the Food Network on our FCP / Kona 2 system.

Not everything, but yes – it’s generally true. Avid still pretty much rules Hollywood. It’s ingrained in the business culture of post there. Whether that will change any time soon is another question.Kevin Monahan
