I exported a Final Cut Quicktime movie between 1 G5 to another’s media drive. When I went to import the movie into a project on the second machine I got the following error: File Error: 1 file recognized 0 access denied, 1 unknown. Sequence settings and clip settings shouldn’t be an issue (if they were not compatible the project should still import it, but not play it real time) I got the same error a couple of weeks ago when I tried to import into my laptop, but I assumed it was a codec issue. (laptop does not have a Kona card) Any ideas?
P.S. The clip was self contained.

if you want to import a quictime FCP movie into another machine, you have to be sure, when exporting as a quicktime movie, that the option to make movie self contained is activated. If not, the movie will only play in the machine where you created the movie…

    Don,

Make certain that the same version of QT is on both machines. Some of the latest QT versions are suddenly very particular.

    donwalker,
You need to move the QuickTime movie that the FCP project file is referring to. This will be in the capture folder on the scratch disc.
