  transfer video between desktop/laptop via external hard drive

  I am trying to transfer footage from the Lacie external drive to the laptop. I can work with footage on the G5 desktop, when I connect Lacie to laptop, the icon for Lacie comes up, I can open file but media is offline, and I cannot find it anywhere to reconnect. I am sure this is something simple that has already been addressed here, but I can’t figure it out. Can someone direct me to instructions, help.

  Are you opening the project file associated with this media? If so, it should see it right away. If not, it should give you the option to reconnect, in which you do so by telling it where the first clip is. But you should be using the EXACT same…or ideally a copy of….the project file used on the G5.

  What file are you using?

  If no message comes up, just highlight the offline media and right-click or CONTROL-CLICK on it ans choose reconnect.

  Use the Media Manager’s Copy or Move functions.
