I’m trying to capture some digibeta tapes using the Kona2, and a Sony DVW-A500 deck with Final Cut Pro HD. The captured video seems to play fine, except for audio dropouts through out the video. Does anybody know the possible reasons for this, maybe wrong settings? It is not the tapes because I captured a bit again and had audio dropouts in different spots.

    Thanks for your help

    Jeff

[JeffreyJohn] “t is not the tapes because I captured a bit again and had audio dropouts in different spots.”

Best way to check that is to put the Condition Display into enable & watch for the errors.

However, sounds like a reference problem, try switching the ref switch to its other setting and/or disconnecting the SDI input to the digi.
My Decklink & digibeta can work without a reference signal, I’m not too sure about the Kona, but I bet further ‘posters’ will recommend an SPG

I’ve had problems in the past with SDI transfers using decks that weren’t properly synced or improperly timed to the input devices. It usually shows up by audio dropping out. Make sure that everything in the chain is referenced to the same source all along the way for best results. I’ve had this happen with Digibets decks and DVCPro decks with SDI cards as well.

in addition, double check the obvious – sequence setttings match capture settings and audio is at 48khz (not 44.1 or 32 khz).
