Apple showed it at NAB April 1999 and it shipped shortly afterwards.

    All the best,

    Thanks Tom,

It’s funny, in my mid 50’s and working on a video for the AZ Alzheimer’s Consortium this week, client asked me today how long I’ve been working on FCP and I couldn’t remember if it was 5 or 6 years!

    Have a wonderful day.

September 8, 1999 was the first day the “compatible configurations” page was posted online…don’t know if that helps!

    Hey debe,

So FCP is a Virgo, just like me, maybe that’s why it’s been so good to me!

    Have a wonderful day.

For some reason I remember April 99 being the starting point for its use. I remember all the lead ups to it with MacroMedia taking three years to develop it under the name Key Grip and then Apple got it, several pix were posted of its interface on some web site and in April it came out. I dont know why I have such a strong memory of this date.
