Capture and firewire problem
I’m working with FCP HD on a Mac G5. I have an external harddrive linked to the Mac via firewire on the rear port. I have a Canon MiniDV camera firewired to the front port for video import. BUT the computer won’t see the camera firewired to the front port (I get the eternal spinning beachball) But as soon as I disconnnect the harddrive firewire from the rear, the computer immediately sees the front port firewire (!!!) But that’s not much help when I need to log and capture video to the external hard drive. I’ve shut everything down, disconnected everything, restarted the computer, etc. I’m at a standstill. Help is needed and appreciated. thanks.
