    equipment:

G5 Dual 2 ghz 1.5 gb ram GeForce FX 5200, Aja Kona LS, Medea VR FCR 300gb scsi Array. DVW A500.
Black Magic Deck Control 5.0, BM Frame Link 1.0, BM Live Key 5.0.
    FCP 5.4

I think I got everything and then some…… on to the issue

Day by day I cut pormos and drop them onto the end of a blacked tape and have not had an issue. In the past few months when I lay back a sereis of spots they are lating ot tape 1 frame early and leaving one frame of black at the end of the sequence. I believe it is 2 seperate issues.

    1. Why is dropping the spots in 1 frame early…… i have updated drivers and gone through the gamut of settings I use a workaround of setting everything up one frame late ( our facility likes everything to start on :05:00 or 00:02 for df)

    2. The mysterious frame of black dropping in aa the last frame. I noticed htis when trying to make an insert edit to fix a program error of on of the shows.

any help would be gratly appretiated as always.

    Hi Bill

I’ve had this same problem and can’t find any fix. I have an almost identical system to yours, with a Decklink card outputting to a Digibeta deck. Recently, I changed my pre-roll to 10 sec. from 6 sec. and that seems to have helped, but I haven’t tested it thoroughly. What is your playback offset set to? Mine is set to 5. I think the frame of black at the end is related to the ETT coming in one frame early.

    Cheers

I have tried 10 but went back to 5 becuase it had no effect. This is so wacky. I have tried to go out a frame early as well but it still leaves on frame of black. Maybe someone will help out.

    Hi Bill

I’ve posted this before on the Blackmagic forum as well as reported it to Blackmagic directly. There was one other user who reported it on the Blackmagic forum a year ago, but I haven’t heard if he found a resoloution.

Interestingly, it only seems to affect users with Digibeta decks. I’m wondering if somehow it could be deck related. I did repeated tests to my new Panasonic HD1700 DVCProHD deck and it was frame accurate.

Email me off list and we can keep this discussion going.
