  Zipping Quicktime Files

  Hello,

  I’m curious, if I have an uncompressed Quicktime movie file and I zip that and then un-zip it, does the resulting un-zipped movie file suffer any quality loss?

  No, it will be exactly the same. You should test it and see if you save much space, however. Usually media files don’t gain a whole lot of space from compressing. It all depends, though, so give it a try.

  Thanks for replying Jeff.

  That is what I thought but my boss and a media-buyer I work with swear that there is quality loss. I zipped four such files to make them easier to send via yousendit.com

  I spent some time with Google and I found a couple of sites that say there is no quality loss but they didn’t look credible enough to use for ammo.
