    I was very much awed by the WB’s 2006 upfront, here’s the link:

    I wonder what plugin they used in paint-splatter effect. In the latter part of the movie, you would notice how the paint-like effect traversed from one character to another. Is this possible with AE’s native plugins? Could Trapcode’s Particular do the trick?

    The splashes seem to be practical elements (as in being filmed real splashes) used as mattes, complemented by some animated masks. The strokes are simple strokes with Roughen Edges or a fractalized matte on top of them.
