    anyone know how to prevent this? I’ve downloaded a cool clip from the web that was an mpeg2, but when I import it into FCP, the audio dissapears.

    My quicktime is as current as possible, and I even bought some mpeg2 plug-in that doesn’t seem to be worth a flip.

    thanks for any help that can be offered.

    mpeg-2 is not editable. You need to De-mux the clip and convert it to a quicktime format FCP understands. Use MPEG STREAMCLIP for this.
