I just migrated from a PC based system and am trying to find the best method for real time titles. Before on my old Digisuite system I would just type it in Title Motion and it was real time. Never needed to be rendered. I am now on a Quad G5 with a Kona LH. I have tried several but they all need to be rendered and are even taking a while to render. Looking for simple stuff like a disclaimer or basic name super with a soft shadow.
    All help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Won’t do real time tiles like that, especially with drop shadow. There are no real time cards or work flows that I know of.

    Hope this helps-

Yep, have PS, but what a pain to change text. This is strange. All of the hardware based editors on PC do this. The software plugin hands it to the host app and the host app sends it to the hardware for overlay. I am amazed that there is no real time CG. So putting a bug on a program makes a render. Bummer on a 60 minute finished program that wants to place an ID bug in the corner. On my Matrox Digisuite it was RT with Speed Razor in 1997 uncompressed. Look at the offerings of Axio. Wow at the real time overlays. Someone at AJA and Decklink need to wake up. Hopefully Matrox will port Axio.

    Sigh..

I really miss Titlemotion as well!! PP2 still has the Inscriber front end, but the bomb was Titlemotion with edit* (as well as Speed Razor!)…

[Dan Powers] “All of the hardware based editors on PC do this.”

That’s the thing. FCP is software, and there’s no 3rd party RT hardware since Pinnacle dropped Cinewave.

Try Boris 3D Text (comes free with fcp). Apply shadow in boris, not fcp. Or Boris graffiti (not free).
