That’ll be a whole lot more content for the iTunes store then!

[Dave LaRonde] “The great thing about Pixar is that they rely on this tried-and-true maxim: The Story Is King. “

Agreed!!! The folks at Pixar are truely among the best storytellers anywhere.

I get the “joke”, but in reality,

iTunes has been a primary Disney music download retailer for a couple of years now.

The “merger” is a good one for both Disney and Pixar.

Disney has the best marketing (and follow-through) in the biz.
    And Pixar creates GREAT content.

    Its good news.

Maybe they’ll launch iToons… you know, cartoons for the iPod.

[Dave LaRonde] “Particularly over the past 3-4 years, it has relied on formulaic plotlines for its feature films, and they weren’t even good formulas.”

    I heartily agree.

I appreciate the creativity of folks like the late Walt Disney and Jim Henson and bemoan the dregs Disney Productions has been making lately. It’s almost a return to the sad days under Ron Miller when the best they churned out junk like “Gus the Field Goal Kicking Mule.” And the past few Muppet productions have been shadows of their former glory.

I’m fearing for Pixar’s creativity in this deal. Will there be a well-defined role for them or in-house competition with Disney’s already exisiting animation division? I head months ago that Disney was set to produce (with a likely drop in quality) a “Toy Story 3” apart from Pixar. Does this mean Pixar will take over that project?

[Dave LaRonde] “Tell the truth: does anybody here actually LIKE watching the Disney Channel?”

Yes, I feel that certain shows like Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, and Phil of the Future are Highly creative. They remind me of cooky style shows like The adventures of Pete and Pete. I feel like the creators of these shows are more focused on a good story than anything else. I don’t think you can just lump disney channel content into the same category as the films (esp animations) that the company craps onto the silver screen.

[Dave LaRonde] “I give you great credit for having the patience to endure the garbage on the Disney Channel just to find something of interest.”

Well I have a sister who likes to watch terrible programing, so she constantly had the TV on Disney. I don’t really think i deserve credit for having patience with the Disney Channel. Now credit for having patience with my sister for not punching her in the face and taking the remote…. I might deserve some credit for that.
