  capturing probs related to standards conversion?

  Hello all,

  I have been having ongoing problems capturing NTSC digibeta tapes, where the media start of the captured clip will bump ahead as many as 5 seconds from the media start as logged. For example, I will log a clip to start at 01:00:00:00, but once captured, the media start will change to 01:00:05:00.

  The common denominator of these problem tapes is that they are clones of standards-converted program masters from PAL. We suspect that there may be a timecode phase issue resulting from the PAL to NTSC conversion.

  Can anyone confirm that this might indeed be the culprit?
