I’m working with 10bit projects. If I either capture clips or import rendered files from AE, when I export .mov files using Current Settings, those files when imported back in need to be rendered. i.e. they show red in the timeline.

If, however, I bring in an Animation file, have FCP render it in the timeline, then export THAT the re-imported file will play without needing to be rendered.

I see this on both Decklink and Kona systems. Has anybody seen this, or have a solution?

What? When you export from your Sequence using “Current Setting” and then re-import the clip back in, it needs to be rendered? Then something is wrong on your end. That should not happen and I don’t see that here.

If you are exporting a raw clip from the Viewer, then your Exported clip does not match the Sequence. I.e. if you render in AE in the Animation Codec, bring that into the Viewer and export using “Current Settings” I believe it will export an Animation codec clip, which will need to be rendered in your Sequence.

    Hey Walter

Exactly, it’s really strange and it’s killing me. I’ve re-installed the BMD drivers (haven’t tried the Kona yet) but it’s really odd. Again, files rendered from AE drop into the timeline and play, no rendering required. Export that same timeline using Current Settings, import the exported clip and it needs to be rendered. It’s making me crazy.

Import an animation file, FCP renders the timeline, export THAT and re-import and no render needed.
