Hot Swap HD drive for $85
My holiday quest this year was to find an inexpensive Hot Swap firewire enclosure with trays. I have the Granite Digital and the Wiebetech but I needed something at a lower cost per unit and a lower cost per tray. and thanks to CompUSA I found it. CompUSA.com has a firewire 400 external HD case that also fits a CDrom drive. And they also have a ATA Hot SWAP PC insert internal enclosure that fits the Firewire external enclosure perfectly. Drill 2 holes and pop rivet them together and you have a great FW400 Hot swap drive for less than $85. The trays are only $15 big ones, which is half price of Granite and less than a third of Weibetech. It took me about an hour to put together the second drive and they have quite fans and cute blue lights on the side that match my Medea RTRX. It is priced right project storage that you can remove and put on the shelf, then load up a new drive. I needed inexpensive trays so I can off load projects off my Medea RTRX. They have been running solid for over a week. A new hard-drive will give me read write speeds of 29mbs/sec. I do not know how great they will be for how long, but they are certainly ‘priced right’ Need more info email me na**@*****ro.com. An easy project that might save you some money this year. Happy New Year to the barn yard..
