Rendering Hell- every time I move a clip or any audio FCP5 want’s to re-render
Editing NTSC DV footage shot on a DVX-100 shot @ 24fps. I brought it in as DV NTSC 48khz and I’ve got the sequence set @ that too. Although I just changed the sequence setting to DV NTSC 48khz-24 (guess that would make sense since it was captured @ 24fps). I’m confused about this point though…. I’ve heard it makes no difference as it’s always playing @ 29.97 but only ‘showing’ 24fps. Not sure. Which one is right.
Back to original question: Every single time I move any of the clips or any audio in my timeline FCP5 wants to re-render. Perhaps it’s because at times I have up to 4 video and audio tracks playing at once? Also, some of the footage has been tweaked in opacity, size and and feathered edges…. does that make a difference?
I don’t want to have to keep re-rendering! I have to wait 3 minutes or so every time I want to see if something works… if it doesn’t I have to start all over again! Arrrrggg
I’ve tried changing the “RT” to different settings …. but still no dice.I’m running FCP 5.0.4 on a Powermac G5 (dual 2 Gig) with 2 Ghz or RAM.
All my footage is on a G-RAID 320 …Thank you,
Michael
