Hey Walter,
We discussed that $599 17″ Sony HD monitor a couple of times this year, just want to confirm, with it I can see real-time playback of HD projects, no? I’m now using the Kona LH. Just looking for that last 2005 write-off! Happy New Year!

You mean just as a video monitor? Yeah, just feed it Component from the Kona and you’ll get full HD playback in real-time. I purchased a set of BNC to RCA cables from Markertek just for this as the Sony only has RCA inputs. I find this a lot easier and secure than using BNC to RCA adapters on the ends of cables.

Thanks, so could I feed the component signal from my Sony SD monitor I bought from you to the HD monitor? Or would I have to hook it up some other way?sorry, technically challenged…

Not if you’re going to feed it HD. that would have to be a direct run from the Kona card to the Sony flat panel.
The Sony PVM monitor I sold you last year is SD only.

No, you can feed HD via Component from the Kona LH. Now if you plan to dedicate the Component output to the SD monitor, then yes, you will need to get an HD-SDI to Component converter to feed the Sony flat panel and HD signal.
Probably easier (and cheaper) to set up two sets of Component cables and when editing SD, feed the PVM montior and when editing HD feed the HD flat panel monitor
