    Hi all,

I’m currently in the process of outputting a long program to HDCam. We are updating sections of the program via insert edits and finding that Final Cut is only accurate to within +-1 frame. Heres the setup:

    FCP 4.5
    os 10.3.9
    Kona 2
    Kona rs422 machine control
    Apple XRAID
HDCam 5500 SR deck set to 1080psf 24.00 fps 4:2:2 HDCam compression

Tapes are prestripped. I’ve been recapturing sections of the output material, with TC burn, to verify the “unity” of the layoff and have found that some insert edits seemed to work while others did not, although no settings were changed.

Has anyone come across this? Everytime we’ve rented this piece of gear we’ve struggled to make insert editing work. Right now, we are facing have to remaster the entire program in one go because we can’t trust the reliability of the tools.

In contrast, the last D5 layoff we did never gave us any problems. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
