I completed a project in AE7 that used many quicktime reference files. Now I would like to back-up and remove the project from my system, but when I choose Collect Files it saves the QT reference files but not the associated media. Is there any way to re-link the QT Reference files to the media or to include the media in the folder AE creates via Collect Files?

Found the answer. In QT Pro I can save the QT Ref files as a self-contained movies. Time consuming but it works.

You can also try to consolidate your OMF or whatever to an empty drive. This way you’ll know which references have been used (that’s assuming you have the luxury of an empty video drive just for this purpose, of course) and using a simple copy would then do the trick. When you restore the project, you’d only need to put everything back in place so tzhe references work again… Might be worth considering.
