  Hi There, I have am using FCP4.5 to cut a 24 minute doco from 15 hours of digibeta tape. My dilema is that I digitised the 15 hours of tape at DV res in order to save space and then Dig in at full 10bit when I have completed the cut.

  I have now finished the offline cut and want to dig only what I have used in the time so roughly around 30 minutes of footage. … but when I use media manager it makes no sense to me at all and just creates a duplicate timeline etc but still wanting me to 15 hours of footage.

  Avid sems a bit better/easier in this department… Could somebody please guide me in the right direction as to what the best way to do an offline/online switch is? Should I just export as an EDL, I am a bit confused.

  Hey Tom –

  I just did this. The article is very good, but be sure to check each edit. I found that cuts slipped every now and again. Be sure to carefull check if you have freeze frames or motion effects

  Avid is a lot better at this workflow. Good Luck.
