    Hi
I’m animating a sort bacteria cell. What I’ve done is create a shape using a mask and animated the shape for movement and then precomped it as a source for Foam. Is there a way to set a kind of initial state so that it doesn’t start from a blank screen…(I know I can make the precomp longer and shift the layer in time so that it appears to start from something)and secondly can I set it so that the Foam just multiplies the shape and doesn’t have any force influencing it(the shape would then just fill the screen).
    Thank you for all replies

Foam will sample custom bubbles from its state of creation – the first frame. From then on, each new custome bubble created in Foam will be based on the current timeline indicator of the Foam composition. In short, Foam samples without any control over the start time of the custome bubble.

Particle Playground does that. CHeck out my COW tutorial on particle Playground entitled, Fun inParticle Playland.

Youmay also want to have a look at Cell Pattern for the effect you want and bypass Particle Playground altogether. The only problem here is that you won’t be able to have the cells multiply themselves to eventually fill up the screen. Well, perhaps with some major masking work you may be able to do it but it’s going to be a monstrous job.

Particle Playground is still your best bet.

You’ll want to use a small amount of repel to ensure that the particles do not overlap. It’s going to be tricky if you want to pull this off in a perfect manner.

Thanks for the help…is there maybe a way of scripting the layer to multiple randomly to fill up the screen.

here is a link to what I’m trying to achieve.

download the sample movie to see animation…I only want to create the 1st 4sec of the clip.
    Thanks

I’d use Particle Playground with Gravity set to zero. Create a Layer Map for the cells. Animate particle position and particles per second to taste. This looks achievable once you have a decent grounding with Particle Playground.

    Good Luck
