Horrible scan lines present in final render (FCP4)
Hello-thanks in advance for your help. It is much appreciated.
I am getting these ugly scan lines (resembles field issue?) on every couple of frames in my footage. The problem seems to be worse in the final render than it looks inside FCP, even though I am using unlimited RT & Best quality settings to view in FCP.
I shot my short film using the original Panny DVX-1000 using the F6 advanced preset in the camera. I captured the footage in FCP4 using the pulldown removal preset. The sequence has an editing timebase of 29.97, since pulldown has been removed upon capture. The scan lines appear whether or not I render upper field, lower field, or no field. The lines occur regardless of 29.97 or 23.98 time base.
I have tried changing the sequence settings to “no compression” although I know upon import, the DV/NTSC codec has been utilized, I am just trying to prevent further compression upon export. I have checked to ensure all of the sub sequences used in the master sequence are setup identically, to minimize issues such as these. I currently am trying another render using the advanced YUV render selection inside the sequence settings, but have little hope this will clear things up.
I thought pulldown removal would take care of these awful frames, but no dice. Any advice? This flick has turned out great, barring these ugly lines. Recapturing the footage is not an option. Sincere thanks for your help…

It likely has to do with capturing the footage wrongly. Can you do a test with a different cadence?
Also, you should be in SAFE RT and not Unlimited. Make sure the dark green “FULL” bars are checked in the Sequence>Render menu as well.
