  • FCP 5 to DSR-11 output problem

    Hi –

ON a recent project, in order to keep in sync with the other editor/edit station, had to upgrade system to:
FCP 5 which required upgrade to OS 10.2.9 and QT 7.
    this is on a G4 867.

Everything fine until time to output the the Final Master.
I did what I normally do, which is:
Stripe DVCAM tape in DSR-11 coming from FCP 3
Than ETT current project (so the beginnng of the show hits at 01:00:00;00)
Never had any problems with this workflow in FCP 4.5

Trying to ETT from FCP 5 to the striped DVCAM tape:
I can see the sequence in the ETT window but only black is going to the tape. When I ESCape from the ETT window, I can no longer get Firewire to playback either through the DSR-11 or on desktop. The playhead moves, but there is no audio level or video update. Command F12 does no good. Toggling AUDIO/VIDEO SETTINGS does no good. Toggling View – All Frames – No Frames does no good. I have to restart FCP 5, in order to see FW again.

I’m pretty sure I tried all the obvious stuff.
I am able to output no problem from FCP 3, so this rules out the deck, a bad cable, or the config.

FCP 5 seems to handle output differently than FCP 4.5 did.
ANyone ever run across anything like this?
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    jesse

    Try looking here:

This seems to be the answer to many of these kind of problems.

    Worth a shot.

    no dice.
i removed the QT reciepts and re-downloaded and installed QT 7 as per the link you posted.
FCP plays back via Firewire just fine, until it’s time to ETT.
Then, although the material is displayed in theETT window on the desktop,
    nothing goes to the deck.
afterwards, FCP cannot playback via Firewire.
Still no problems with playback or ETT in FCP 3.
    I’m baffled ….

upgrading to fcp 5.0.3 took care of the problem …
