  • Final Cut Pro 5 doesn’t recognize camera

FInal Cut Pro will not recognize my camera via firewire on startup. It will also quit when the capture tool is opened after camera is connected. No errors show up and I’ve thrown away the preference files and restarted. I’m out of ideas, please help.
Running on PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5, 5 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, Canon ZR65 Mini DV

    thank you in advance

I am using FCP 5 and a GL-1 as well as a Panasonic cheapy (PV-GS-19). I have the same problems with both cameras. Today I had to use imovie to export my final video. My own workaround has been to unplug and then plug back in the firewire in both the computer and the camera. It works sometimes, pretty chincy though.

You may want to mention your camera, if you’ve tried Edit to Tape, Print to Video, and a straight from timeline playback. Also, are you able to log and capture?

Anything involving the camera doesn’t work. FCP just quits with no error message. FCP works fine with no camera. The settings dialog says the camera is missing.
What is the proper way to remove FCP completely and reinstalling?

    Try this:

Regarding the posted apple document. Is there a way to reinstall Quicktime Pro without paying for it? Even though I already own a copy, I assume when I trash it and reinstall I will be asked to pay again? Thanks,

It is my understanding that if yo have FCP5 installed, quicktime is already updated to pro. This is all speculation as I am not for sure. I’m glad this worked out for you.
