Avid Codec for QuickTime 7?
Posted by Editmonkey on December 3, 2005 at 10:54 pmI’m an Avid and FCP editor and switch between them alot. I need an Avid Meridian Codec for QT 7. I have the one for QT6, but it doesn’t seem to work anymore. Can anyone help?

December 3, 2005 at 11:43 pmAvid hasnt updated their Quicktime codec in many years and even with QT6, it barely functioned at all within FCP.
I am guessing you are not going to get too much cooperation between Cupertino and Avid on this.

December 4, 2005 at 9:58 amthe latest (QT7 compatible) version of the Avid meridian codecs are only currently available with Avid’s Adrenaline 1.8.x or, for Xpress users, 4.8.x
note this post from Avid’s own forum moderator https://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/2446/ShowPost.aspx
however, if you have this software I can confirm that these latest versions of the Meridian codecs (9.4.3 and 9.4.5) do indeed work with QT7 … unfortunately the meridian codecs contained in the latest version of Avid’s freely available FreeDV do not yet work with QT7
hope that helps
