Hello Cow admin
Posted by Bob Vick on November 29, 2005 at 7:07 pmI can’t seem to post to the communication forum so I must say it here. I get the standard warning about no tech questions, I click to start my question, click to post and get the warning again and nothing posts.

November 29, 2005 at 11:45 pmHi Bob.
Sorry about the trouble you’re having posting to the Cowmunications forum. What you’re enountering is a bit of trouble resulting from our attempts to get people new to the Cow to put their posts in the correct forum. In the past, you may have noticed coming in from time to time, and finding posts that really didn’t have anything to do with the Cow itself sitting in the Cowmunications forum, rather than the forum for the tool the post is about. While these posts don’t stay active in the Cowmunications forum for long (as we move them to the proper forum), in the past, we would get multiple posts there every day. To try to get these people to post in a forum where their message will be seen by people who can answer the question, we’ve put up the “newbie filter” page in that forum to reduce the incorrect postings. Unfortunately, that “newbie filter” system still needs a little bit more work to smooth it out to – as you’ve noticed. It is actually possible to post in the Cowmunications forum, but you have to hit the “Yes, I really did want to talk to the admins” button for every step of the process – which can get a bit tedious….
Add New Post. (“Yes, I want to talk to the Admins”)
(Fill in post)
Preview Post. (“Yes, I want to talk to the Admins”)
Go Back and Edit Post. (“Yes, I really do want to talk to the Admins”)
(Fix the typos)
Preview Post. (“Yes, I want to talk to the Admins about the Cow”)
Post Direct. (“YES!!! I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING! PLEASE JUST LET ME POST!!!”)
Okay, okay, we’ll let your post go up now.
I know I need to fix this, reducing it to just the one “Yes, I know what I’m doing here.”, but there’s always a ton of things to get done. It will get fixed (hopefully before too long), I just can’t make any guarantees on how quickly. In the meantime, just try to persevere – or, as Walter said, send me an e-mail directly. 🙂
