In a nutshell, I could not add any clips with an Alpha channel to V2- even those that I had used previously with problems. Trashing prefs didn’t help. I finally deleted and re-edited the underlying video on V1, and now things are back to normal.

The problem is now corrected, but any thoughts?

[Les Kaye] “The problem is now corrected, but any thoughts?”

My thoughts are to REMEMBER that workaround!
I know lots of them for various situations.
I never heard the problem you described but congrats on finding a solution.

Sometimes “things” just get corrupted. Trashing the prefs many times will fix them (but in this case, that wasn’t it).

Did you try making a NEW COPY of the timeline before you deleted the clips on V1?

Another might have been to Open a new BLANK timeline and edit from your first “iffy” version to the new one (still on separate distinct tracks.)

Thanks for your response. Yep, I’m pretty sure I tried that, but can’t vouch for sure that I did. (the problem started on Thursday and finally went away on Friday). Curious though – could it have been something like my playback settings (Safe RT, etc)?

[Les Kaye] “could it have been something like my playback settings (Safe RT, etc)?”

That only effects the Real Time (RT) image when the timeline is PLAYING.
When stopped, all levels of effects will appear properly in the frame where you’re sitting.

Then, if you RENDER all effects (to High Quality), you will see everything in full quality playback on the external monitor (as well as a lower-quality image of all effects in the Canvas).
