This is sort of a three part question. I’d like to get a new PCIe G5 with a nVidia 7800 GT, but 2 months is quite a wait. So, I was wondering what I’d have to deal with if I bought a stock G5 with the standard nVidia 6600 now and bought the 7800 GT retail later. I’ve read a lot of posts and tried to do some research, but could still use some help with:
1- Is it a difficult thing to install a new video card (I’ve read some reports of yes, some no).
2- Will it void my AppleCare Warranty?
3- What’s the deal with the different ‘brands’ that make the nVidia 7800 GT ‘Video Chipset Brand’? For examble, I go to CompUSA and they have PNY and BFG nVidia 7800 GT cards. More importantly, will it be possible to buy a retial nVidia 7800 GT card that will run on a PCIe G5?
Sorry, this may be more than 3 questions. Guess these news cards just have me a bit confused. Anyway, I appreciate any help or explanation!

I just went through this sort of… AppleCare had to replace my display card. It’s not a user installable thing (they wouldn’t just ship a part to me for replacement), so the way to keep warranty when you do this later is to upgrade through an authorized apple repair center like one of their stores. (buy the part from them, and have them install it).

Thanks for that. Can you enlighten me at all about the different ‘brands’ who use nVidia’s chipset?
    Thanks again!
