I’ve made some 8 bit uncompressed quicktime files in fcp 4. I’m running quicktime pro 7 in osX.3.9. I’ve set the preference to “use high quality video when available.” but I cannot play the video – only the audio. even though I can play these quicktime files in iMovie and FVP. Is there a metod to add codecs so that my quicktime player can play and, if so, how do I go about it?

    Thanks in advance.

What are these for? What are you trying to do?

Although I make dvds in studio pro from mgeg 2s, my agent prefers the uncompressed quicktimes to make dvds from iMovie and iDVD. I’d simply like to be able to view them first without copying them to fcp or iMovie.

Are you viewing these movies on the same computer you have FCP? If yes, then you should be able to watch them in quicktime. Try turning off the high quality function and see what that does for you. If it’s a different computer, then you need to get the uncompressed component in your FCP machine and put that on the non FCP machine. The uncompressed component is located in the root/library/quicktime folder.

I know that QT 7 doesn’t work very well with OS X 3.9. If you can upgrade the OS and see if that doesn’t solve the problem.
