    to unmult in photoshop:

    – open the image
    – if it’s a background layer, make sure it ‘floats’ (just double click it)
    – deselect all
    – switch to channels, then shift-command click (or shift-ctrl click on win) first on the Red, then the Green, then the Blue Channel, to add their brightnesses to the current selection.
    – switch to layers and with the current selection, add a mask to your layer.
    – apply the mask. (right click)
    – layer -> matting ->remove black matte
