  PAL export to DVD???

  Howdy folks,

  I’ve never done this but I need to export and create PAL DVD and I’m wondering about the process. I noticed in FCP 4.5 I can output a QT Conversion to DV – PAL. Can I then take that and toss it into Compressor and then into DVD SP 3 and create a PAL DVD? Do I have to set the compression for PAL (there’s an MPEG-4 preset for PAL Source, but nothing in the MPEG-2 list) and then do I have to do anything in DVD SP to create a PAL disc?

  Hello

  In my limited experience using the Quick Time conversion you suggested wont give you the best results and that you will probably need to consider a software plugin or third party software or even a conversions house (expensive but good quality) in order to first convert you master NTSC footage to a master PAL. Then encode to PAL mpeg 2 using PAL settings and then set up a PAL project in DVD SP with PAL formatted menus and then burn as normal.
