  • AE 6 install problem: “KBRD Resource not found”

I am trying to install AE 6 on my G5 iMac. It installs ok, but when I open it, I get the message “KBRD Resource not found. Shortcuts will be disabled” and thus the keyboard shortcuts do not work in AE 6. I have NOT uninstalled AE 5.5 on the same computer. Could there be a conflict? How do I uninstall AE 5.5??

In an attempt to solve the question, I took AE 6 to another computer, a G4 PowerMac, and installed it. That computer hadn’t had a previous version of AE and accepted AE 6 no problem, with keyboard shortcuts and all. This is why I believe it might be a conflict between AE 5.5 and 6.

Any info will be much welcome!

Not sure, but sounds more like a general problem with user permissions (the installer seems unable to create your config files and directories). As for your other question: I’m not a Mac guy, but usually just deleting the AE directory along with the pref files in your user home directory counts as a clean install. All other settings should be overwritten/ redirected by the newly installed version.
