Shopping for a Capture Card.
Any recommendations on a capture card for around $1,000. Specs for a Matrox RT.X100 look inviting but so does Pinnacle Liquid Edition. I

No capture card necessary with DV and FCP. Just a camera or deck and a firewire connection.

I have old VHS tapes I want to convert to DV as well. Revising my question would be a good render card for FCP.

No card will help FCP in terms of realtime performance or increase render speeds. All that is processor based. WHo knows with the new dual core Powermacs.
And for getting VHS into FCP, look at the ADVC-110 by Canopus. Converts a composite signal to a DV one.

If you have a DV deck, you can use it as a converter. If you have $1000 to spend, I’ll sell you my RTMac.

Hi,
Don’t even think about using composite. Use an SVHS deck for capture (the JVC HR-S9911U which costs about $400 at Adorama is excellent) and use the S-Video signal.
