I’m going to add 4 Gigs of ram to my Dual 2.0 G5 . It is Samsung ram , the same stuff Apple uses and it is the same speed as the 512mgs that came with the G5 . Can I keep the 512mg along with the 4Gigs ?

Depends. How many SIMMS did you get? What model G5? Crack it open and look how many slots you have. You’ll have to look behind the fans (or just lift them out) but you should have enough room.

The G-5 has 8 slots for ram. If you’ve bought 4 X 1 gig strips, yes, you can squeeze it all in. (Total of 6 slots filled). However, if you’ve purchased 8 X 512 strips, then you’re going to have to pull the original two X 256 strips to make room.

Sorry my post may not have been clear . I have 8 slots for ram . I’m not asking wether I can fit it all in . I was wondering if mixing the original 512mgs (2 x 256) with the new ram would cause any issues . I bought 4 1Gig modules . I know that mixing ram can sometimes cause trouble . It’s all Samsung ram and the same speed .
