importing media problem
When I try and import media into Final Cut Pro, either pictures on the hardrive or quicktime files, they come out pixelated and at a low resolution. This problem has only started in the last couple of months. Pictures I was able to import without any problem a few months ago, now come out at a low resolution. I can log film from my camera without any problem. The render settings are at high. Why is Final Cut Pro converting these files into suck a low resolution and what can I do to fix the problem?

FCP won’t change the resolution of an imported file… However it does change the resolution to the timeline’s settings when you put it in there…but that said, if you aren’t viewing the material externally on a video monitor, you can’t see the resolution that you really have… are you doing this?

Thanks for the response. I have burned one of the projects I have been having problems with onto DVD, and it does look like it is pixelated. Now I think the problem may be in the rendering rather than in the importing. Before I render a clip I imported it looks fine, and then it loses resolution when I render it. This also happens with graphics I make; after I render them, they get random dots around the words. Media that I log and capture does not have any problem. My render settings are at high. Why would my pictures render at a low resolutin?
