I need to move my FCP system into a client’s rented editing room for a few months while we work on his documentary project together, and I’m not certain what to charge him for the hardware. Essentially, I’m just providing my G5 with BM Extreme card, installed FCP Studio, and hard drives. I’ll hook them to his monitors, speakers, and mixer, etc. Keep in mind that the equipment fee I charge him will be added to my customary documentary editorial fee, so I won’t charge him full tarif, as though I were simply renting the equipment to him. Also, I will be able to do work for other clients on thew system as time permits, so that is not a factor. Any ideas???

    TIA,
    DRW

Will only you be editing, or will he be editing as well?

If just you are going to be using the gear, then charge what you always do.
What does it matter what location your gear is at.
Like you said, your not renting the gear to him.

Personally, I’d add a little something simply for the inconvenience, not hourly though. Maybe a small per/day fee, for gas and inconvenience.

    Thanks,
    Gary
