  Capturing problems

  I shot some footage with an XL2 on 24p 2:3 mode, 16:9. When I captured the footage, I went thru the settings and edited the default presets to capture at 24p. However, while editing, the 24p footage is interlaced. Even adding the de-interlacing filter on it fixed the interlacing, but every 4th frame is repeated so playback is very jittery. Could someone clue me in on what capture settings, sequence presets and capture presets to use to correctly capture the 24p footage? Thanks in advance.

  You probably didn’t use the advanced pulldown mode when you shot the material, so capture it as 29.97, and if you want to work with true 24fps media files and 23.98 sequence settings, use Cinema Tools to remove the 2:3:2:3 pulldown that you have probably shot… FCP can remove the advanced pulldown pattern on the fly (2:3:3:2) but not the “normal” 24p.
