  Importing Excel spreadsheet as batch list

  I have read the manual back 2 back! Never had this problem.

  I have 10 pages of Excel spreadsheets with log data on them. I need to import them as batch list in FCP5 but it doesn’t work! What do I do?

  My nostrils are stretched and fuming like a bull!

  You can’t bring in an Excel worksheet. You just need to export it from Excel as a Tab Deliniated Text file with the .txt extension.

  It’s in the manual because I just brushed up on that last week.

  You are right! It works, but thats not all…

  Say I have a sheet with 10 rows of media data. When I import the batch list (.txt) into FCP I do get the offline data for the clips but I also get 15 unwanted offline thumbnails with no timecode data for them.

  How do I get rid of them and just get the 10 or 20 clip data I originally logged in the Excel spreadsheet.
  Note: I have no empty rows nor columns in my original spreadsheets. They are all filled with log info.

  There must be an error somewhere in your sheet. the column headings in your excel (or txt) must match the column headings in FCP exactly.
