  • Error Message when importing Tiffs…. ??!!

Posted by Josh Evans on October 8, 2005 at 10:13 am

I have a fw Tiffs. The weird thing is some of them import, and others dont, when they are all exacly the same picture, except just a few differences made to each in photoshop.

I get the message “File Error: 6 files recognized, 0 access denied, 3 unknown” does anyone know what is going on?

FCP 4.5 HD on Mac os Tiger latest version. The tiffs are pretty big too.

You have two posts where you say the TIFFs are “big”.

    Exactly what does “big” mean?

it means around 16MB, and 2000 X 2000 pixels. is that too big? I need them big to zoom in on them

Tiffs can have layers (like .PSD’s) or use compression (LZW).

FCP only works with uncompressed, flattened TIFFS.

Open them in Photshop…make sure you flatten them, use no compression and use Mac Byte order. This is all in a dialog box before you save the file.
