Apple 20″ Cinema display is the best I’ve seen, hands down.

Get a Bella Pro keyboard instead. It has the shuttle / jog built in, plus it’s color coded for FCP.

    Hi,

Dell Ultrasharp LCD’s are comparable in quality to the Apple Cinema and cost a LOT less if you wait for a sale or coupon. You could get two Dell 20″ for about the price of one Apple.

Here is a review of the 24″ Dell:
    https://www.barefeats.com/lcd.html

Get 22% off the 24″ Dell Wide Aspect LCD Flat Panel 2405FPW: Coupon code CMGNHZJTD46N1K (Hundreds less than the 23″ Cinema, read our review of this display.)

Here is the current deal on the Dell 20″:
Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20″ LCD display for $464
Dell Home offers the Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1″ LCD Monitor for $699. Coupon code “ZX99STV3H$7TSB” drops it to $464.30. That’s tied for the lowest price we’ve seen since July. Shipping and handling are $3.10. The 2001FP features a native resolution of 1600×1200, USB hub, and S-Video, composite video, DVI, and VGA inputs. Deals end October 6 at 7 am ET or at 4,000 uses.

Lacie Photovision19 or Dell Ultrasharp? Which is best? (PS. I am residing in Italy so don’t know about coupons).

    Hi,

I don’t know if the LaCie are substantially better than the Dell or not but I don’t think it matters. For critical video color monitoring you need to use a high quality PAL or NTSC monitor. For a computer monitor for FCP the Dell monitors are more than sufficient.

If Dell ships to Italy the coupons and sales should be valid. If so that would save you quite a bit of money.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch

I love my Apple monitors (I have a 30″ and a 23″). They are insanely much better than cheap brands out there. Best there is. Don’t know about those Dell ones..
