  • My suggestion for match frame… what do you think?

I find getting match frames pretty slow and a bit annoying, i.e. I always know which clip I want the matchframe from, but telling FCP by turning off layerrs, and making others active blah blach….

Instead, why not have it so whatever clip the mouse cursor is over, is the one that the matchframe wil be traced back to when you hit your “matchframe” button. I think this could work for alot of other functions too?

    What do you think?

[mushyosh] “but telling FCP by turning off layerrs, and making others active”

That isn’t how to best select the Match-frame track.

You turn on the “Auto Select” icon on the track you want to choose from (turn off the others if its not the “top” track).

If you “option-click” on the track’s Auto Select icon, its just a one (or two) click command.

That said, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if you could just position the cursor over a clip and then hit “F’.

In version 5, you should be able to just select the clip you want to match frame from. Although it only works about 30% of the time for me and I don’t know why…

Yep in v5 a selected clip takes priority over autoselect which is a very welcome enhancement. FWIW it works reliably for me here.
